People’s Federal Credit Union (PEOPLE'S), a division of the Self-Help Federal Credit Union, is a community development financial institution (CDFI) located in Oakland, California. 

As a CDFI, our goal is to promote the economic empowerment of Oakland’s residents, especially those traditionally underserved by financial institutions. 

We look to achieve this goal by:

• Keeping our rates and fees low;
• Creating a unique environment in which our members understand their importance to our success and also feel a shared sense of responsibility with their neighbors and fellow members; and
• Providing financial education to community members. 

Fair Rates and Low Fees

As a not-for-profit financial institution, PEOPLE'S  is not in business to make profits for shareholders (as a credit union we do not have shareholders).  Instead, we look to provide our members with great, low-cost financial products and services.  As a division of Self-Help Federal Credit Union, we at PEOPLE'S follow the guidelines of responsible lending by offering loans with fair terms and reasonable rates, without hidden fees and unreasonable charges. 

Unique Environment

Financial Education Services
