People's Federal CU believes that being knowledgeable about your money is the key to securing a financially sound future. That is why People’s works with various organizations in order to offer free financial education services to the Oakland community. We have provided a variety of educational workshops for both adults and youth, because it is never too late or too early to begin learning how to manage your money.

Oakland Housing Authority

We have partnered with the Oakland Housing Authority to provide many useful workshops to their members. Under the OHA Home Ownership Program, their tenants are required to attend our workshop series. This includes lessons on budgeting, credit, banking, and home buying.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

PEOPLE'S works with the United Way's Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program, providing free tax assistance to any individual whose income was less than $42,000 for the prior year. For 2007, PEOPLE'S tax assistance program brought over $315,000 back to the Oakland community in tax refunds and Earned Income credit! PEOPLE'S served over 200 clients with a median adjusted gross income of $15,232.
